Dog Friendly Winter People often feel the urge to plan a year’s worth of travel in January because it’s a nice break from the cold and dark days. Big trips abroad may still be on hold, but it can still be fun to look into local winter breaks that are dog-friendly. With so many beautiful places to see and friendly places to stay, the Seattle area is a great place for short holidays with your pets. After living in New York and Chicago for ten years, it was nice to go back to the Pacific Northwest and find new, interesting places to stay as well as old faves. A lot of these places now have choices that are dog-friendly, which makes it easy to bring our pets with us on our trips.

A lot of people are planning holidays this month. Here are a few places in the Pacific Northwest that we want to visit with our dogs in 2022. These places, ranging from cozy cabins to stylish boutique hotels, are great winter getaways for the whole family and even accept dogs.

  1. Friday Harbor House, San Juan Islands This beautiful inn offers several “dog-friendly” cabins, perfect for enjoying the picturesque Friday Harbor. The San Juan Islands are a fantastic destination for hiking, sightseeing, and taking in the breathtaking views. Each cabin has specific dog-friendly options, ensuring a comfortable stay for you and your pet.
  2. The Sedgecliff, Columbia River Gorge Sedgecliff, located in the heart of Wine Country, is one of our favorite resorts, offering a blend of hiking, wine tasting, and stunning views of the Columbia River Gorge. This resort has been a go-to spot since 2015, and it never disappoints. They have a well-established puppy policy, so you can enjoy a worry-free vacation with your dog.
  3. Captain Whidbey, Whidbey Island Captain Whidbey is a beautifully restored historic inn that has been gaining popularity on social media, especially for its pet-friendly rooms. The Filson Cabin, for example, is a perfect retreat for those traveling with dogs, offering a cozy and stylish environment.
